ITEM #GOOEY CUBE: THE MOST NON-SKID, STICKY, SEMI-RIGID SURFACE I'VE FOUND IN MY 27 YEARS OF PEN REPAIR. These are great for at least two things done by practicioners of our avocation:

1) Turning-out Parker jewels (clip screws). Click to read more...

2) Un-clogging buffer sticks and other abrasive tools such as tiny sanding drums. You can do this over and over. The use of Gooey Cubes can increase the useful life of abrasives by as much as 5 times.

$10 ea

Here's an email, typical of what I get regarding this tool - Everyone's a skeptic until they try it:

Hi Dale:

The Gooey Cube arrived fine yesterday – I was a bit skeptical about how well it would work – but, seeing Stewart Hawkinson’s endorsement I figured it had to have a good bit of merit to it…

This afternoon I removed the jewels from about 10 caps that have been waiting to be worked on.

Everything went smoothly and quickly – it is really, surprisingly, a remarkable tool.

ITEM #SHIM STOCK:  USED FOR GENTLY SPREADING NIB TINES FARTHER APART TO CHANGE INK FLOW AND ALSO CLEAN THE SLOT. I know this is not an abrasive, but it is showing up on this page because of the nib relevance brought about by the above nib abrasives. We have the shim stock in Stainless and Brass. Someone with a conservative bend will opt for brass because it's less likely to scratch the soft gold on your nib if you slip. Some like (and demand) stainless because it goes where you aim it. I think of the stainless as a sports car (it goes where you want it to) and I look at the brass as a big, soft suspensioned luxury car. And by the way, for you automotive enthusiasts out there, you do not leave the shim in the nib when you are done as in an automotive bearing adjusting application. Handle these with care as they have sharp edges. Wear gloves and/or finger cots when using. A set comes with a 1/2" x 3" piece of each of the following thicknesses: .001", .002", .003". .004", & .005". Mention if you want Stainless or brass. Don't use your old spark plug feeler gauges. they usually start out at .010" which is thick enough to do serious damage to your nib.
